Abstract

This study explores the socio-economic factors driving female criminality in Pakistan. Drawing on in-depth interviews with thirteen convicted female offenders, the research highlights key influences such as economic hardship, family conflicts, material desires, pursuit of love, and protecting family honor. Findings suggest that changes in society, including industrialization and media influence, have also shaped female involvement in crime. The study calls for urgent efforts to strengthen women’s socio-economic status and family support to reduce female criminal behavior in Pakistan.
